There exists an ongoing PBS TELEVISION SET series (also several catalogs and also a website) called “Closer to Truth”. It is hosted by neuroscientist Robert Lawrence Kuhn. He’s featured in one on one interviews and panel talks with the cream of the cream of present cosmologists, physicists, philosophers, theologians, psychologists, etc. on all of the Big Inquiries surrounding a trilogy of broad matters – Ensemble; Consciousness; Meaning. The three set collectively dealt with truth, space and time, head and consciousness, aliens, theology and on and on and on. Here are some of my comments on the general subject areas that cover the idea of an Almighty God. here
Precisely what is God?
Supernatural deities, together with a deity commonly known as Goodness, are figments of the human imagination. Deities were invented because they fill up various needs that humans have. One need is to clarify the inexplicable. If we (translated – our ancient ancestors) won’t be able to describe something, like say lightning and thunder, well with a snap-of-the-fingers we now have presto, a supernatural heavens god who has a bad temper and hurls around thunderbolts. It works, at least until some better explanation comes. A second need is to give you some sort of meaning and purpose because you are very darn lazy to figure away your own meaning and purpose. A 3 rd need is to get our needs fulfilled if we can’t seemingly fulfil them via our own capabilities. And so we ask a magic deity for three wishes, more or less. A fisherman needs good fishing; a childless couple wishes and prays for a child; someone else requires universal serenity on Earth. Annoying different in principle between an adult praying to a supernatural deity and a young child posting a letter to Santa Claus at the North Pole. The common however is the need for an afterlife. Nevertheless we don’t want to die, tough! Another best option is an remainder. But observations of fatality strongly suggest that when death happens, nothing otherwise happens. The entire body doesn’t go anywhere; the entire body doesn’t come back to life. For that reason, there is a great deal to be gained by postulating a deity that via supernatural powers can give you what you can give yourself, not only life after death but the eternal life long lasting. Therefore, what is The almighty? God is definitely a Santa claus Claus for grown-ups. The almighty is your science, until the real science comes.
What is God Just like?
Precisely what is Goodness like? Do you suggest the God who claims “thou shall not kill” yet who is the biggest mass murderer in human history if this Testament is to be believed. In case the Old Legs is actually God’s word, then God, the serial great, puts Hitler to disgrace. Hitler, Stalin (and related) are rank amateurs in the holocaust department in contrast to God. Speak about a do-as-I-say-but-not-as-I-do entity! God in fact should be attempted in the International Judge of Justice for criminal offenses against humanity. Are these claims the God you mean when you want to know very well what God is like? Very well now you know. The Almighty Two-Face!
Does Goodness have Traits 1?
Does indeed God have traits? Certainly, bad ones, like mass murder. God is barely a role model when it comes to the double standard if this individual claims one shouldn’t devote murder while at the same time having Him or her self just slaughtered all of Ancient Egypt’s first created not to mention too much water Pharaoh’s army. God has a super-ego. In simple fact God is very and totally up Himself when challenging that us mere men needs to have and should put no other gods before Him. God also has a lot of trouble curbing His temper. We all often hear about ‘the wrath of God’. Our god loves to inflict punishment on those who can’t really defend themselves. God vs . human is not kept with an even playing field, just like the human being hunter who shoots the animal that can’t take back. So, murder; two times standards; ego; temper; relishing in the suffering more. God indeed created man in His image since men do what The almighty does; but equally man created God in the human image, a Goodness who does what humans do.
